Makeover Monday

Natural Polished Makeup for a Novice

This week's Makeover Monday Model is my lovely cousin Francine.  She has amazing skin and rarely wears any make-up on a daily basis.  I wanted to Show Francine how to have a slightly more polished look without having to wear a lot of make-up.  This is a look that any novice should be comfortable using these products and creating this look.

Skin Prep:  As Francine had just flown in from the US, her skin was a little dehydrated fromt he journey, so I used some Bioderma Hydrant Serum and then applied the Embroylisse Creme Concentrate onto her skin.   I allowed this to fully sink in and I didn't use a primer this time.

Eyes:  Whilst allowing the skin to fully absorb the moisture from the serum and moisturiser, I prepped the lids with Trish McEvoy's Linen Eye Base Essentials, this took our the darkness from her eyes and would act as a primer for the eyeshadows.  I then applied the Sugar Plum eyeshadow across the lid up to her socket.  As you can see Francine has quite hooded eyes and she often finds a smokey eye quite heavy, so this was the perfect opportunity to do it softly.  I then buffed Rose Quartz shadow into the socket, this would also soften the sugar plum shade.

I lined the eyes to give more definition with the Autograph black gel liner, really close to the lash line.  I added lots of the Lash Curling Mascara.  This Mascara is good for Francine as she has sensitive eyes, this mascara won't give her any fall out and can be removed with warm water.

I pencilled in her brows using the Natural Brunette Eye Brow pencil and combed them through to ensure the product was well blended.

Foundation:   Once the eyes were done, I applied two layers of Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Tahoe to Francine's skin.  This gave a beautiful even complexion and a soft glow to her skin.  I then followed with Trish McEvoy's Correct & Brighten Concealer No.2 under the eyes to correct the darkness and added the Flawless concealer No.5 on top to even out the shade and make it look more like her skin tone.   I set the skin with Bobbi Brown's Golden Orange Powder.

Blusher:  To warm the skin I first used the MAC Refined golden Bronzer to shape and contour.  I then added NARS Orgasm Blush on the cheeks to give a little colour and more glow to the skin.

Lips:  I finished the look using only Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Bon Bon.

A big thank you to my lovely cousin Francine who, spared the time on her trip from the US to be made over for the blog!
